In the end, we stuck with screen-free, but decided not to count how many books we read and to just enjoy the week together.
Which we did.
We had a few impromptu concerts and dance parties,
lots of yummy snacks
and "tea" parties,
and overall just lots of fun being together.
We went to the local park to see if it was playable yet.
Our conclusions we mixed.
So we had to go back a second day to test again.
This time with Daddy.
We also did lots of different crafts during the week.
Usually, I let them take the lead and enjoyed the end result. One of the days, we headed to the science centre, because who doesn't love that?
We hit up the usual favorites, like the fish tank and the space area.
Then we headed to the brand new kids' area... and stayed in just this area for 2 hours.
They probably would have stayed longer, but Caleb started to get really tired and grumpy, so we decided to head back home.
Another day, we headed to nearby Borden Park,
The kids called this The Temple. |
The elusive Canadian Land Orca |
Canada Geese |
And of course, dragons. |
open fields to run around in,
and a pretty cool playground.
We also played a lot of Lego.
Including making some pretty interesting creations.Raptor/person hybrids, people with spider legs and heads, a scared man with wings... all par for the course around here.
Towards the end of spring break, I set the kids to helping prep the garden space a little bit.
They were grabbing out any rocks or trash.
We headed to go get Slurpees,
because what sprig break is complete without a walk to get a Slurpee?
This year was Newsies, which the kids have never seen in their memory. They totally loved it, spending most of the time jumping and dancing around.
We may not have counted books this time,
but we still did plenty of reading.
But tiring.
Having this much fun is exhausting!
