Time keeps moving on, and so my Craig is now 7.
Craig asked for a few things for his birthday this year, including orange presents - wrapping paper, specifically - and orange balloons. After he went to bed the night before, I started to work.
I covered him with orange balloons
And put orange streamers over his door. When Craig woke up in the night, he laughed because there was a balloon on his head.
While eating a breakfast of French toast, Kyler let Craig open a present before school, and he picked the smallest one - a set of walkie talkies from my parents. The kiddos spent the rest of the time they were supposed to be getting ready for school hailing each other and generally annoying me. So far, so good on the birthday front.
Since his birthday was on a Thursday, Craig only had a half day of school. Kyler worked from home that day, which meant as soon as we finished our lunch of ramen, we consented to let Craig open the rest of his presents.
He was thrilled with them all.
He has read quite a bit of the books he received, and he keeps telling us random facts he's learned.
The biggest hit of the day were the air rockets. We promptly had to go to the large open field at the park and try them out.All of the kiddos absolutely loved them.
We spent an hour or more, launching, collecting, and launching again. Again, so far, so good on the birthday front.
We had a wonderful dinner of lasagna rolls, if I do say so myself, and then it was time for the pièce de résistance:
The cake. Craig asked for an orange (colored, not flavored) cookie cakeSo, I made a triple layer cookie cake, the top layer being M&M cookie (with only orange M&Ms), the middle being chocolate chocolate chip, and the bottom being peanut butter chocolate chip.
Topped with orange (vanilla) frosting, orange sprinkles, and an orange candle. Are we sensing a theme yet?
Craig loved it, and he got to share it with a few friends, since we've been cohort-ing with this family.
Good thing, too. That cake is rich!
It was a wonderful, orange day, perfect for a wonderful (not orange) little boy.
I love you, Craig!
