Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer

In between the trips to Waterton, Jasper, birthdays, and my trip to Italy, we did other fun summer things around Edmonton.  

Lots of playing in the water, either at parks or in the yard.

Because there were some pretty hot days this summer, and water helps make it bearable!

We made some messes

Sorry, not sorry.

Played some games

Played at lots of parks

Worked in the garden

Went to the zoo

Went to Calaway Park,

And went to Elk Island.

It was so windy we ate our picnic in the car,

Calista could lean into the wind,

And we saw a couple of porta-potties get blown over! 

Glad we weren't in there...

We went to the library

Practiced long jump

Went on nature walks

And cuddled at home.

Because who doesn't love to cuddle?

While I was in Italy, Kyler took the days off of work

And put the kids to work, cleaning the house

And mowing the lawn.

He also took them to a lot of parks, 

Did a tour of the Alberta Legislature building, 

Took them out to a couple of meals,

Made a few meals of their own,

Did crafts with them,

Took them to West Edmonton Mall - 

including the Marine Life Caverns! - 

(Calista was excited she got to touch a baby nurse shark)

And just took great care of the kiddos in general. Three cheers for Kyler, the single dad!

On our anniversary, Kyler and I went to the temple for the first time in 18 months!

We were very happy to be there, and be together. 14 years down, eternity to go.

This summer, we also got too tired to make it all the way upstairs,

Or into our own beds. 

What is summer, if not exhausting?
